Kona One Design taken over by Kona Nordic Patrice Belbeoch Launching a pure longboard windsurf brand into today’s market was bold indeed, but the reception has been overwhelmingly positive – and other brands followed by introducing more longboards and SUP into their lines. It is always rewarding to see a vision becoming reality – and in this case I would almost say it was a mission against all odds. The One Design project has probably been one of our most exciting as well as demanding enterprises. However, it deserves full attention and focus at events and class matters, beyond the capability of what we as a brand can deliver to justify the continuous growth of the class. Selfishness does not grow windsurfing. It is comforting to leave the helm to Joachim Larsson at Kona Nordic – who has proved to the world what this concept can do to windsurfing. I will be glad to assist and continue promoting the class. Joachim Larsson The concept is not only obvious, but necessary – and most of all extremely satisfying. To see veterans returning to the sport – with their children, families and friends and to be a part of a building process is what makes us tick. It is amazing to see how the Kona spirit attracts people of all age groups. Key is to build the foundations being schools, gatherings and events in a systematical and social manner. Being the 100% owner of the Kona OD Class and brand name, I will do everything to foster new talents – which the fast growing competition level already indicates. We are proud to be the “open door” to windsurfing, and a feeder to all other classes. All winds are Kona winds. www.kona-windsurfing.com
